Friends and co-founders Ben Frohlichstein and Stacey Marcellus reconnected after having parallel experiences working on farmlands. They were inspired to bring a new kind of food into the world that was filled with nutritionally relevant, real food ingredients and tastes and textures that rivaled the classics. The world’s first almond flour pizzas, pastas, and cookie doughs were born and today, Ben and Stacey lead a team of spirited food lovers, guiding Cappello’s on its mission to set a new standard for frozen foods.

Us: Cappello’s is a growing, Denver-based startup with national distribution. We are a passionate group driven by nourishing the communities around us through our pastas, pizzas, cookie dough, and the way we do business. We own our own manufacturing making the opportunities - channels and products - endless for Cappello’s now and in the future.
You: You’re a clear and concise communicator, able to navigate ambiguity, and can work both quickly and thoughtfully. You are a passionate relationship builder, lean on data to make decisions, and have a constant hankering for a snack.
Position: The Business Development role will work closely with the Director of Sales to manage current business (regional grocery, distributors) as well as unlock new opportunities. This Crew member will be a brand liaison to field brokers, retailers, and distributors to get Cappello’s products in more hands across channels. You’re responsible for growing the business profitably and thoughtfully with the support of peers.
Primary Responsibilities:
Customer Management:
- Manage selling meetings, new item presentations, business reviews, and associated documentation
- Analyze customer data and make recommendations on strategy
- Manage promotional planning, deliver on trade spend targets, and help inform forecasting
Business Development:
- Grow core skus outside of current retail customers
Relationship Building:
- Strengthen existing relationships and ability to creatively build new ones
- A deep understanding of customers and ability to clearly communicate on their needs and objectives
Qualifications:
What:
- Passionate about the Cappello’s brand and inspired by what we represent
- Ability to think critically and understand implications throughout all stages of the selling process
- Core competencies in Food Sales in the Natural Channel or Grocery, with additional Direct to Consumer, Private Label, Club, or other Alternative Channels experiences highly preferred
- Understanding of data tools (SPINS, Retailer & Distributor Portals), sales metrics, and trade math (selling price, margins) or open to training
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills along with excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
