About the job
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to run the Office of the CEO. We have talented people and endless opportunities, but our productivity is currently impeded by a lack of unified oversight and organization of our various projects. This role, which reports directly to the CEO, will help ensure that all our major projects are appropriately specified, prioritized, and resourced. You will be asked to lead the implementation and oversight of a Stage Gate program that crosses all functional boundaries within our organization, ensuring that we only take on what we can manage, and that we manage everything we take on. You will be the uncrosser of wires, responsible for maintaining alignment between project participants, elevating issues to the CEO as needed to unblock projects at an impasse, and regularly reporting to senior leadership on the status of all the projects we’re undertaking. This role will work closely with the CEO in concert with leaders of sales, marketing, finance, R&D, production, and quality to ensure we ruthlessly prioritize what we’re working on and move those things relentlessly forward.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Functioning as the overall project management leader within the organization
- Helping to instill a culture of adherence to process in all cross-functional efforts
- Leading the implementation of new and existing projects by applying the Stage Gate methodologies to specify, track, and deliver projects on time and in full
- Collaborating with functional leaders to define, prioritize, and develop strategic projects from idea to completion
- Assisting in the development, improvement, implementation, and adherence to the planning processes required for the continued growth of our organization
- Leading select major product, packaging, and merchandising initiatives across all businesses to ensure alignment amongst stakeholders and timely execution
- Working closely with Senior Leadership and the CEO to ensure that every project we choose to execute both supports the goals of the organization and has a high likelihood of success
- Performing risk assessments to identify potential roadblocks and escalating them to the CEO when necessary to keep things moving forward
- Assisting with the planning and execution of all top-level corporate initiatives ranging from the strategic to the tactical. We have a lot of balls in the air, and it will be your job to call out when they’ve been — or are in danger of being — dropped.
What we’ll love about you:
- You’re a process-oriented problem solver who can manage complex situations without panicking
- You have an organized, proactive nature and a deep love for building and managing systems and tools
- You’re willing and able to push back on your superiors when they make unreasonable or unworkable requests
- You’re an emotionally mature adult who prefers to work with other emotionally mature adults — and know how to get coworkers to do what’s needed to move a project forward
- You possess an inquisitive, curious nature that views ignorance as an opportunity to learn or teach
- You’re willing to admit error quickly and move immediately on to learning and improvement
- You’re ready and willing to get your hands dirty, but you also understand when it’s time to step back and focus on the bigger picture
- You have excellent communication skills across all levels, functions, and teams. People like you. They really, really like you.
- You’re a time management wizard, and people are constantly amazed at how much you’re able to get done in a day.
What you’ll love about us:
- We are a team of competent, motivated, diverse, and decent adults.
- We offer competitive compensation, 100% paid health benefits, sick leave, 401k, and a fun, relaxed office environment.
- We value reasoned debate over political maneuvering. We try to do the right thing and, more importantly, we try to identify and admit when we don’t.
- We offer flexible PTO for all full-time employees. We too value health, relaxation, and spending time with friends and family.
- We try very hard to make fire drills the exception, not the norm.
