PawsCo’s Mission: To give vulnerable animals an opportunity to thrive by engaging the passion of our Colorado Community.
We accomplish our mission through the union of dedicated foster homes, individualized care for each animal, passionate volunteers, collaborative shelter partnerships, community-based programs, and donations from community members who have a heart for animals in need.
We are a 100% volunteer-based organization. We empower our volunteers to discover their passions, utilize their strengths, and give what they can, when they can. Want to join us?
Join the PawsCo Board of Directors
We show up for the animals who need us the most, and our Board is a big part of the success of our organization. We support shelters across the state and nearby states by taking dogs and cats into our foster-based rescue who may need more medical care than the shelter has the resources to provide, or animals who are struggling in a shelter setting.Â
As a Board Member you can help by leveraging your time, skills, and resources to allow our incredible volunteers to do the important work they do day in and day out.Â
About PawsCo
PawsCo has a focus on helping pets who have the most need within the state of Colorado. PawsCo partners with shelters to assist with animals who are not thriving in a shelter setting and do not have adoption options within the shelter. PawsCo is an all-breed rescue where pets live in foster homes prior to adoption, and receive love, training, and medical care they need to be successful adoption candidates.
PawsCo is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization based in Denver, Colorado.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Board of Director Overview
We are recruiting candidates who are excited about our mission and want to help us scale to increase our impact.
Our board members have a 2-year initial term, with an option to renew. Our board is composed of business leaders, philanthropists, and animal welfare experts. We are currently recruiting for 5 board positions, including an incoming BOD Vice Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and general board, due to tenure completion of existing board members.Â
Here are some of the ways we are looking to add to our Board, although all interested parties are encouraged to submit an application:Â
Skill set, racial and socioeconomic diversity
It is important to have professionals in our organization that represent the ethnic and socio-economic diversity of the communities we serve. PawsCo is committed to serving everyone in our communities, and we want to ensure that our practices as an organization, led by our Board, are always inclusive.Â
Financial experience
One of the priority roles we’re currently recruiting is our Board Treasurer. This role sits on the Board Executive Committee and formal financial and nonprofit accounting experience would be wonderful, but not necessary. We are looking for someone with strong financial acumen who can act as a partner to the Board, hold us accountable, and consider strategic opportunities to grow.
The treasurer role requires approximately 5 hours of monthly commitment at the start of each month to work with our accountant to finalize our monthly financial package. The treasurer is also responsible for paying bills (approximately 1-2 hours of time a week). Total monthly time commitment is approximately 10 hours.
Strategic planning
As PawsCo grows we need individuals who have done strategic planning to align funding, team growth, programming plans, and have assessed organizational scalability and sustainability.
Marketing / PR / Communications
We want to amplify the PawsCo message and would love individuals who have a strong personal or professional brand and / or expertise in marketing, PR, and communications.
Animal welfare experience
PawsCo is always looking to be a better partner to the shelters and communities we serve – and most of all, ensure that the decisions we make serve the animals who rely on us. We love to have people who have an understanding of and passion for the animal welfare world.
What the Commitment Entails
- The board meets 4x/year for 2 hours. We are looking for members who are willing to commit to regular and active participation leading up to and during attendance at these meetings. Board terms are 2-years.
- Projects between meetings may require additional time commitment.Â
- Board members are asked to make a personally meaningful contribution, for example making PawsCo one of their top 3 annual donations.
- All board members are asked to support member recruitment and onboarding.
