Under minimal supervision, the Buyer/Planner collaborates with planning team to contract, secure, and coordinate delivery of ingredients/raw materials (Conventional, Organic, Dry, and Liquids), and additionally coordinate the delivery of packaging materials, to meet scheduled production requirements. The incumbent conducts bid analysis, comparative cost control, order placement, expediting, vendor management, inventory control, and validation of demand forecasts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews and maintains proper on-hand inventory levels and a proper incoming supply pipeline by utilizing MRP reports provided by the planning team
- Responsible for the creation and full-cycle management of POs in the business system
- Negotiates appropriate price, high quality materials, delivery deadlines, and commercial terms to meet the Company’s goals
- Assists with productivity projects (cost savings initiatives) and works with the team to complete them in a timely manner
- Partners with internal transportation team, and external brokers, to optimize the incoming supply chain while minimizing freight/storage charges
- Develops global sourcing strategies that support balances agricultural growing seasons and Hain’s seasonal production plans
- Interfaces cross-functionally (Marketing, QA, R&D, Regulatory, Etc.) to support the development of new product offerings which meet Hain standards
- Interfaces cross-functionally (Marketing, QA, R&D, Regulatory, Etc.) to develop new supplier relationships, cultivate existing ones, and identify qualified additional sources
- Reconciles billing errors, approves inbound freight invoices, and provides back-up documents to accounts payable
- Ensures budgeted PPV numbers are achieved, and variances are identified
- Assists with coordinating the return, sale, and/or discarding of excess/expired raw materials
- Assists with other projects and tasks, as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree or other equivalent
- Knowledge of inventory management and associated processes
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple priorities and strong attention to detail
- Excellent computer skills including MS Office programs
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively
- Self-motivated and strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization and across all functional areas
- Preferred procurement experience buying highly seasonal raw agricultural ingredients and MRP/ERP
Compensation and Benefits:
