 The Accounting Assistant is an integral member of our accounting team who embraces a spirit of continual improvement and possesses a relentless drive toward excellence. If you are an experienced and dynamic Accounting Assistant, BVHC may be the place for you.  This 32-40 hour (full-time) hourly position reports to the Senior Accountant.  We offer an hourly rate of $20.00-$23.00, based on experience.  There is an opportunity to work some hours remotely after completion of training (90 days onsite)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:   

  • Receive, scan, and reconcile invoices. 
  • Match invoices to packing slips if applicable. 
  • Code and enter reconciled invoices into accounting software. 
  • Track, code, and enter employee benefit payments. 
  • Receive, scan, and reconcile employee expense reimbursement reports. 
  • Maintain electronic vendor files, produce necessary reports, and generate checks to ensure timely vendor payments biweekly. 
  • Oversee online bill pay and record payments into accounting software. 

 ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE: 

  • Work with the billing team to ensure patient and insurance collections/refunds are entered into accounting software. 
  • Record donation and grant receipts into accounting software. 
  • Manage accounting for various patient assistance programs.  

 CREDIT CARD PROCESSING: 

  • Maintain credit card receipts and track credit card purchases. 
  • Enter credit card transactions into accounting software. 
  • Reconcile monthly credit card statements. 

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION:   

  • Backup HR Manager processing bi-weekly payroll. 
  • Record payroll journal entries into accounting software at month-end. 

 CASH MANAGEMENT: 

  • Prepare daily deposits. 
  • Take cash deposits to the bank in Longmont. 
  • Monitor and reconcile petty cash. 
  • Download, code, and enter weekly bank transactions into accounting software.  

 MONTH-END PROCESSING:   

  • Reconcile monthly deposits for patient collections. 
  • Assist Senior Accountant with reports and reconciliations.
  • Support the month-end closing process. 

 ADDITIONAL DUTIES:  

  • Improve, automate, and document processes. 
  • Year-end inventory count.
  • 1099 preparation. 
  • Assist in the implementation of new accounting software. 
  • Assist in digitalizing accounting documents. 
  • Ad hoc projects, as requested by the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance.

Job Qualifications & Experience: 

  • Strong commitment to reproductive justice and an ability to demonstrate knowledge and passion for the mission of BVHC. 
  • 2+ years’ experience as an Accounting Assistant. 
  • Bookkeeping experience. 
  • Driven to continual process improvement. 
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative work style.
  • Robust technology and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with Business Works, QuickBooks Online, or Paycor a plus. 
  • Solid organizational skills and great attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Non-profit experience is a plus.
