JOB SUMMARY
“I Have A Dream” Foundation of Boulder County (IHDF) is searching for a full time Development Associate to join the Development Team in building out a robust fundraising program. IHDF is a well-established organization in Boulder County with a strong base of financial support. There is significant opportunity to sustain and grow the current fundraising goals. The Development Associate will work closely with the Development Director to implement fundraising strategies and activities in a fast-paced Development department.
WHO YOU ARE
IHDF is searching for a candidate that is looking to join a vibrant Development Department with ambitious goals. If you love using data to inform strategy, this is the job for you! For this role, we need someone who can pivot between providing the back of house support but is also comfortable with a forward facing role meeting with donors.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Data Management & Donor Acknowledgement
- Take ownership of the database to ensure data in Salesforce is accurate, clean and up to date.
- Work with the finance department monthly to reconcile any discrepancies so that data matches in both Salesforce and Quickbooks.

- Work with the finance department to manage the collection process of multi-year pledges and ensure timely communication with donors.
- Create custom reports in Salesforce for the Development Department/Executive Director, with any related reporting needs as needed:
- Understand how the organization uses data to meet the needs of the overall strategy of the organization.
- Understand how to use the data to meet the goals of the organization and create a system to accurately track the data.
- Ability to analyze data in Salesforce to identify trends and patterns to improve fundraising strategies.
- Keep Salesforce SOPs current and write new ones as needed.
- Prepare donation acknowledgment letters in accordance with IHDF's acknowledgment process, customizing and updating thank you letters based on who is giving.
Donor Growth and Retention
- Work closely with the Development Director and Executive Director to develop and implement donor engagement and stewardship strategy.
- Recommend and help implement strategies to enhance and grow existing donors’ giving levels using data to help identify donor groups.
- Establish and manage consistent donor communication processes to continue stewarding current donors.
- Respond to donor inquiries via phone, email and in person.
- Stay current and knowledgeable on gift regulations and donor fund management best practices.
- Oversee portfolio of donors in conjunction with Development Director and Executive Director to steward through the moves management process.
Event Support
- Assist with event planning and logistics for two main annual events, Dream-Maker Luncheon and Golf tournament, along with smaller donor cultivation events throughout the year.
- Provide data to better inform event strategy to ensure meeting event goals.
Staff Engagement
- Assist in hiring and onboarding for the Development Team and related hires.
- This position may oversee interns or contractors based on project load and need.
- Assist in ensuring that organizational and departmental goals and operations align with and support the Strategic Plan and organizational culture of philanthropy.
- Work collaboratively with the Development Director to create the annual fundraising plan and individual work plans to meet set goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of work experience in development and/or nonprofit work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. We will consider alternative ways in which an applicant may have gained the required qualifications, outside of traditional pathways.

WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full time position that may require some weekends and/or evenings to support and attend IHDF events. Hybrid work environment is an option after successful onboarding.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary Range $55,000 - $65,000, depending on qualifications
- 15 days Vacation, 10 days Sick Leave, an additional 3 weeks of time off during Fall and Winter
