Bare Bones is a rapidly growing food and beverage brand focused on delivering nutrition in delicious and wildly convenient formats. Over the past three years the company has more than doubled in size (from under $10 million to over $20 million in revenue), become consistently profitable, expanded its product line from broths to include both soups and beverages, and has expanded its retail footprint to include Costco and leading grocery retailers (including national distribution at Whole Foods and Kroger). The company is seeking a procurement leader to help support and drive future growth through innovative and effective supply chain and procurement practices. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Leadership: Develop and execute operational strategies that align with the company's growth objectives and ensure operational excellence across all functions.
  2. Hands-On Management: Lead by example and be actively involved in the day-to-day operations, rolling up your sleeves to drive outcomes when necessary
  3. Cost Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage the cost of goods sold (COGS) effectively. Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive initiatives to improve profitability.
  4. Supplier and Customer Relationships: Cultivate strong relationships with key supplier partners that deliver vs. KPIs across cost, quality, service, innovation, and others. Collaborate closely with key supplier partners and customers to ensure mutual success and alignment with Bare Bones’ values and goals. Negotiate and manage supplier contracts to maximize value, mitigate risk, identify improvement opportunities, and minimize total cost of ownership
  5. Innovation Support/Ingredient Sourcing: Work with innovation team to source ingredients for innovation projects and benchtop testing to meet standards within the project brief
  6. Create Redundancy: Conduct formal bidding process with diverse group of suppliers, vetting primary and secondary suppliers to ensure redundancies along the supply chain
  7. Documentation: Gather and maintain necessary documentation for all raw materials and maintain accurate information within IMS
  8. Forecasting: Work with planning team to determine ingredient needs for upcoming productions, place orders for ingredients and packaging within WMS and ensure delivery to appropriate supplier partners in a timely manner to support productions
  9. Maintain all certifications – organic, Non-GMO Project, GFCO, etc. – ensuring no lapses in compliance
  10. Lead CAPA process for any deliveries of ingredients or packaging outside of specification and work with vendor partner to resolve issues for current and future deliveries
  11. Provide input into capital budgeting process with cross-functional stakeholders in Manufacturing and Innovation-related functions
  12. Identify strategic partnership opportunities across multi-year time horizon to maximize value and minimize risk for BB

Job Requirements:

  1. Sound technical knowledge/experience in ingredients/commodities categories for food/beverage/CPG
  2. Ability to develop and cultivate win-win relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners
  3. Ability to mobilize cross-functional teams to manage risk and deliver value
  4. Strong business, communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Ability to consistently deliver rapid results
  6. Nimble and comfortable with change/pivoting
  7. High level of attention to detail and high performance standards for self
  8. An entrepreneurial/growth mindset
  9. Proficient with Excel, Dropbox, Google Sheets, etc.
  10. Comfortable working in a hybrid work environment
  11. Must reside in the United States

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a senior procurement role, preferably within the consumer packaged goods industry, with a track record of successfully managing high-growth supply chains.
  • Expertise in sourcing, inventory management, and logistics, with a focus on efficiency, cost control, and quality.
  • Financial acumen with a track record of achieving strong financial results through effective operations management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • A collaborative and ego-free approach to working with colleagues and partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, operations, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Full Job Description

Job Summary:

 Develop and lead a sourcing and procurement capability that can serve as a source of competitive advantage for the company. Lead sourcing, supplier management and end-to-end value creation for $10M+ Ingredients spend across Bare Bone’s business. Fully accountable for all supplier relationships and performance. Leverage skill/scale for new opportunities and to deliver against broader business objectives. This team member will help develop the job function as the company prepares for significant growth across the US and International businesses. Support and enable rapid product innovation through a close partnership with the Product Development team.

Looking for a candidate who exhibits both hustle and attention to detail.
