Overview

Pact is seeking a dynamic Head of Design to take on a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of product design and development.

This role requires a visionary, entrepreneurial leader who can create a clear design vision for Pact

while driving innovation, streamlining processes, and ensuring high-quality output that aligns with the

Company's brand identity and business goals. The VP will collaborate closely with the merchandising,

marketing and creative teams to bring new products to market efficiently, capturing market share and

driving long-term consumer loyalty for Pact.

Location/Reporting

  • Location: Boulder
  • Reports to: Chief Merchandising Officer
  • Travel: International travel may be needed

 

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: 
    • Create and maintain a distinctive and ownable design DNA for Pact.
    • Develop and implement design, development, and production strategies that support company objectives and market trends.
  • Product Development: 
    • Lead the creative and technical teams in designing and developing innovative, high-quality products that meet consumer demands.
    • Manage raw materials (fabric and trim), driving innovation in fabric, staying up to date with industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to drive workwear product innovation.
    • Oversee product development, costing, and technical design, ensuring products meet quality, fit, and functional standards while considering cost and manufacturability.
  • Process Optimization: 
    • Identify and implement best practices to enhance workflow, reduce time-to-market, and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: 
    • Work closely with merchandising, creative and marketing teams to align design and production with business goals and customer expectations.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management: 
    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and other key partners to ensure seamless production and supply chain efficiency.
  • Budget & Cost Management: 
    • Oversee budgets for design and development ensuring projects are completed within financial constraints while maintaining quality.
  • Trend Analysis & Innovation: 
    • Stay ahead of industry trends, technological advancements, and market demands to continuously drive innovation within the product lines.
  • Team Leadership & Development: 
    • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, collaboration, and accountability.

About You

  • 15+ years of related professional experience in Product Design/Development 
  • 5+ years of experience managing and mentoring teams
  • Proven track record of building and developing collections at scale
  • Outstanding taste level with the ability to recognize, forecast, and translate industry trend direction
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to direct team in a positive and strategic way while nurturing creativity at all levels
  • Strong knowledge of design and production processes, including materials, manufacturing techniques, and supply chain logistics.
  • Experience in print, pattern, color required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly around fit intent
  • Flexible, resilient and comfortable working in “grey areas” that are constantly changing
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be 100% proficient in design programs such as, Adobe Illustrator, In-Design, Photoshop with the use of a Macintosh and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Interest in sustainability a must
  • Entrepreneurial sensibility, collaborative and flexible working style

Salary: 

$140k-$190k + bonus + equity; this is a good-faith estimate; actual compensation will be commensurate with experience
