Company Description
The Product Engineering Manager is responsible for all aspects of Product Quality and Compliance as well as being an integral part new product development and product launches for Eco-Products. The product line consists of environmentally friendly food service items, including injection molded cutlery, thermoformed cups and containers, roll formed paper hot cups and molded paper pulp plates, bowls and containers.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance
- Full responsibility for quality assurance program.
- Create manufacturing, inspection and quality specifications for internal and factory level quality control procedures.
- Lead role in QC issues as they arise
- Confirm defect and extent of issue; communicate with customer and sales staff on cause, corrective action and resolution.
- Work with manufacturer on corrective actions and product credits or replacement.
- Custom facing engagement for quality and occurrence resolution.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure and improve product quality and cost.
- Execute and develop test techniques and equipment for use in analysis of products.
- Compliance
- Manage all product testing and certifications to assure products are in compliance with FDA, ASTM and BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute) requirements.
- Oversee vendor compliance including annual Food Safety and Social Compliance audits including corrective action follow up and improvement.
- New Product Development
- Responsible for coordinating and executing approval of samples from suppliers.
- Responsible for obtaining quotations and negotiating pricing from suppliers.
- Provides final approval for tooling and mass production start-up.
- Project Management
- Create and manage product development schedule to assure project implementation is completed within time constraints.
- Lead weekly status meeting with cross-functional teams.
- Vendor Management
- Responsible for bringing new vendors on-line upon approval.
- Function as Project Manager on these products.
- Ensure specs and approved samples are in place.
- Review and summarize costing of potential new suppliers.
- Develop and manage Product Engineering / QC budget.
- Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
- 5+ years’ experience in quality assurance, new product development, product engineering, OEM relationships, and manufacturing processes such as injection molding and thermoforming.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding and thermoforming.
- Knowledge of structuring OEM relationships and establishing manufacturing partnerships.
- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate with management, and internal and external customers.
- Ability to work on a team in a project management role and to coordinate activities of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience managing 3rd party materials labs and auditors.
- Strong inclination towards sustainability in business and personal environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant technical experience.
